Maria Grazia Rosin: Venetian Glass Artist - Venice (Italy)
Maria Grazia Rosin was born in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy). She lives and works in Venice.
She was educated at the Istituto d'Arte in Cortina and went on to study under the guidance of Emilio Vedova at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice where she graduated in 1983. In 1992, she took part in a collective show organized by Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice to showcase new potential talent in glass art. Rosin thus began collaborating with eminent master glass blowers.
From this initial experience in her new medium, Rosin went from strength to strength as she transformed the visionary bi-dimensional concepts she had explored on canvas into the three-dimensional reality that glass afforded her. Of highly sophisticated aesthetic quality, Rosin's visually rich, starkly colored, sinuously shaped creations are at the point where art meets design. They bring together the best of Murano's centuries-old, skilled craftsmanship and complex technology in installations with their hallmark quality visual, sound and video effects.
